My Experience
My mom turned 80 in the early weeks of the shut-down. She lives alone in California, and we had been planning a big bash that now, of course, couldn't happen. I turned to my Twitter account to ask friends to wish her a happy birthday - and then turned the responses into an electronic "card" that I shared with her.
